I'm so happy to introduce the latest contributor to Young Sophisticates: Cristina from Fuji Files. Cristina will be writing a new fashion column called "Runway Retrospective." Now, let's get her take on runway inspiration...
Hey there Sophisticates! This is Cristina with a brand new series called Runway Retrospective, where we'll be diving into the latest inspirations from the catwalk!
In writing this post a quote by Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada could not escape my mind:
"But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's notturquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns... And then it, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin."
Not to say that Young Sophisticates shop in clearance bins, but just that what happens on the highest of fashion catwalks does in fact affect us all! Now without further ado, I chose to break in the series with the utmost in glamour, Dolce & Gabbana and their Fall 2011 collection.

You may be noticing stars decking everything from shirts to dresses to tights at the moment, and we have to pay our respect to the boys at Dolce for this newest trend. What impressed me most about this collection was the way they took a relatively juvenile print (I haven't worn stars since I was about 5) and turned it into a grown-up statement that any glamorous Sophisticate could appreciate!
I'm finding this collection particularly inspiring as we make our way into the thick of the holiday season. Sequins are the uniform of choice for holiday soirees, but stars are a fresh new way to add some sparkle to your party ensemble!
