Runway Inspiration: Jonathan Saunders

Photo Credit: Jonathan Saunders Pre-Fall 2012, via kittenhood

Jonathan Saunders, the London-based designer known for his use of bold prints, is certainly one fashion designer to get familiar with, if you're not already aware of this talented designer.

Jonathan Saunders Pre-Fall 2012 collection is striking and yet simple - look-at-me geometric prints in saffron yellow and duck-egg blue mixed with luxe woven and knitted pieces, like waffle-knit sweaters.

Runway Retrospective

There's something about this time of year that triggers a deep desire to wear long white dresses, preferably with eyelets, crochet, or lace! Cristina here with a new Runway Retrospective, Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011! Luckily this urge returns every summer without fail, so I can feel confident investing a bit of money in this piece - maybe not Dolce & Gabbana, but something nice!

Do you have fashion tendencies that return every year, no matter what the current trends are?

Luxe Interiors: Home Office

Photo Credit: Simon Upton, Elle Decor via markdsikes.com

Tastemaker Aerin Lauder's office is contemporary, sleek and a bit intellectual. We love the look of this office, with its perfect balance of the masculine and feminine.

While few can afford to recreate this home office on such a grand scale, add some home decor accessories to your office to add instant sophistication to your work space. Get the look with the Jonathan Adler Antwerp table lamp (we prefer this lamp in black), a black lacquer tray from Westelm (for your papers), and don't forget to add a hint of something soft and pretty like these Quartz Bookends from Design Darling {The Boutique} to balance it out.

How adorable and quirky-cute are these envelope clutches by Roxy Marj

A Roxy Marj clutch, budget-friendly at $24, is fun and would be a perfect addition to any accessories collection. I'd store some edgy sunnies in one of these hand-painted clutches.

Hello, Sophisticates! It's Marche' from #eyecandy here with another Look for Less column! As you can see from my previous posts, I love mirrored furniture. From dining tables to sofa tables, I love the glamour mirrored furniture brings to a room. So, it is only natural that I was obsessed with the tables in this room (pictured above), designed by Airoom, when I saw them. Can you believe this is a trailer?

I was drawn to the contrast between the shiny, mirrored tables and the ethnic, tribal print fabrics. When I saw these tables, I knew exactly where they were from, Westelm. These beauties are Westelm Faceted Mirror Side Tables (pictured below). The geometric shape offers the perfect silhouette for the beautiful mirrored finished. It is sure to sparkle in your home.

Room View

Westelm's Aluminum Hexagon Side Table is a slightly less expensive version with the same unique shape and shiny finish! Either way you can't go wrong with one of these tables. Use them as end tables, or double them up to use instead of a traditional coffee table.

Star Styling: Zooey Deschanel

Hi there Sophisticates, Crissie here, from Chicasaurus-Rex with the latest installment of Star Styling, featuring the cute and quirky Zooey Deschanel I love how Zooey went for a more sophisticated, glamorous look here - not as cutesy as we're used to seeing from her. But she's still able to pull the look off. How? She keeps it super simple, letting the hip-hugging sequin dress do all the talking. By pairing it with a simple red belt and neutral pumps she keeps the look stylish (not garish)! Add some red lipstick and a coat of red nail polish and you have a perfect look!

Here's how to ger the look for yourself: TopShop Dress, Mango Belt, Steve Madden Shoes, NARS Lipstick, Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish

Look for Less: Monogram Needlepoint Pillows

Hello, Sophisticates! It's Marche' from #eyecandy here with another Look for Less column! I've always been a lover of anything monogrammed! There was a time when you could find an "M" in almost ever inch of my room. Now there are no "M's" in sight. I want to make my place more personalized, but not go overboard. Pillows are just the answer!

The room above, designed by Greg Natale, has the perfect monogrammed touch! Greg brings the perfect amount of interest into this bedroom with Jonathan Adler's Letter Pillow. I love the needle point texture and the clean look of these pillows. What I don't love is the $100+ price tag. If you aren't a fan either, Pottery Barn Teen is your answer. Their Alphabet Needlepoint Pillow (pictured below) is a gorgeous alternative! With the same needlepoint effect, black and white color palette, and $29 price tag, this option is definitely a steal!

Get your hands on this popular pillow while they last! There's always the option of making them yourself. Only in a perfect world...

Nantucket {Shopping, Food & Wine}

Photo Credits: all photos taken by Young Sophisticates, except last photo via inclassicstyle

I'm back from a delightful vacation in Nantucket ~ watching July 4th fireworks on the beach, dining at fantastic restaurants, and shopping at fabulous boutiques.

Here are some of my favorite spots from the trip...

For shopping, my favorite boutique has to be Monelle - I'd describe it as East Coast style with a contemporary, cool vibe. I saw an amazing orange and pink dress from Tibi, but I snatched up accessories - the DV python sandals and Hat Attack hat (pictured above).

In terms of shoe shopping, Addison Craig impressed me with its selection, including Loeffler Randall, Chloe and Tory Burch. In the end, I walked away with these stunners

In terms of restaurants/bars, I highly recommend CRU (pictured above), a waterfront oyster bar - the food was truly delicious and the decor is incredibly beautiful.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at CRU, and we had a great time; a big thank you to our server Ali for providing such amazing service to our entire party. And, fashion side note: the servers and hostesses wear uniforms designed by Michael Kors - how chic!

We also went to Galley Beach, Queequeg's and Brant Point Grill. Each restaurant was great.  I really enjoyed the wine tasting at Cisco Brewer's - so I vote you add that to your list if you go!

Couture Column: Chanel

The twice-a-year haute couture shows in Paris are always beyond exquisite and the Fall 2012 Haute Couture Chanel show was no different. Karl Lagerfeld threw a beautiful garden party in Paris’s Grand Palais complete with white wicker chairs, gardenias, and macaroons.

While the setting was grand, it was the gorgeous clothing complete with intricate details and a classically “coco” color palette that took my breath away. Inspired by the theme “new vintage”, the collection paid homage to Chanel’s design history by incorporating her classic pieces (i.e. the tweed jacket) but adding stunning  twists to make them modern.

Check out Caitlin's blog, Daily Cup of Couture, for more couture inspiration, glamorous fashion & decor, and more. And, remember to look for her Couture Column here on Young Sophisticates!

Star Styling: Sophia Bush

Hi there Sophisticates, Crissie here, from Chicasaurus-Rex with the latest installment of Star Styling, featuring Miss Sophia Bush.

Now - you may have thought that Sophia dropped off the radar after One Tree Hill - I know I did. But she showed up at a recent L.A. film premiere looking super chic. I love how she breaks up the pattern of her maxi skirt with a front slit, and keeps the top simple with a tee and blazer. Her shoes are a little risky, with that pop of neon, but she makes it work!

Here's how to ger the look for yourself: Splendid Tee, TopShop Blazer,  Hive & Honey Necklace, Generation Love Maxi Skirt, BCBGeneration Clutch, Guess Shoes
