Runway Retrospective

Hey Sophisticates, Cristina here! Here in Texas we're well and truly familiar with an Indian summer. As much as I'd love to change into scarves and boots, it's still so hot!

For a little Indian summer inspiration nothing could be more perfect than Chanel's Pre-Fall 2012 collection. These colors, layers, and loads of jewels have me totally inspired to dress things up for fall - or take a trip to India!

L'Wren Scott Fall 2012

L'Wren Scott Fall 2012 collection utilizes luxe fabrics in striking colors to create a major impact. I admire the elegance of both of these looks - ultra-feminine dresses in rich prints topped off with cage high heeled sandals and decadent fur wrapped around the neck.

Side note: a fur scarf (or faux fur scarf if you prefer) is a must-have winter accessory. Snatch up this ultra-luxe Co fur scarf in statement-worthy blue or splurge on Maison Martin Margiela fur scarf in more traditional beige.

This collection makes me think of the 1930's and the decades prior to that - it's almost like we're seeing the clothes of the past reimagined through a contemporary lens. Striking!

Look for Less: Wire Side Table

0073097_zpsf18592e0

Hello Sophisticates! It's Marche' from #eyecandy here with another Look for Less column. Fall seems to be the time when I add the most clothing to my wardrobe and the most home decor items to my space. One thing I always seem to have a shortage of is a place to sit things. I have tons of frames, candles, and knick-knacks but never a place to put them. I've been looking for some side tables that are as interesting as what I'd like to place on them.

Take the wire side table in the room (pictured above). It is perfect for the space because it's not too bulky and it's so cool that you need only place a couple items on it. After seeing this picture, I went to search for the perfect wire side table in a gold metallic finish.

For the perfect wire table, look no further than Target: Wire Accent Table. The table is a part of  Target's Timeless Collection and is pretty awesome. With it's gold wire base and black, marble-like top, it looks more expensive than its $69 price tag. Target's Metal and Wood Accent Table is also a gorgeous choice. It is more rustic than the previous table with black wire base and wooden top.

For fans of contemporary furniture, West Elm's Random Base Side Table is absolutely beautiful! The random, art-like base and white marble top would look amazing in any space. It seems there is an option out there for everyone!

Fall Must-Have: Trendy Sweaters

Photo Credit: via blckdmnds.com; via icbnyc.com; via jcrew.com

Chunky knits, cozy sweaters and chic cardigans... definitely time to add an extra layer of warmth to your look & there are lots of fun options if you are in the mood to shop.

I wore a hot pink cashmere sweater last weekend as part of my off-duty ensemble; it might have been jumping the gun a bit - but who cares? Wear what you love, when you want to wear it!

SHOPPING PICKS:

ICB Double Layer Hem Sweater ($255). With Prabal Gurung now at the helm of this brand, the designs are undeniably cool, with a distinctly downtown appeal. [Pictured at right]

J. Crew Collection Cashmere Polka-Dot Sweater ($268). Polka-dots are a still a huge trend & this sweater in "cabernet fuschia" is perfect. [Pictured below]

By Malene Birger Billiye Color-block Knitted Sweater ($365). The blush, charcoal and chocolate colors provide a fresh, feminine and interesting color palette.

Thakoon Marled Crew-Neck Sweater ($490). I'd love to wear this designer gem après-ski this winter! Expensive, but the cream of the crop when it comes to the color-block sweater.

Couture Column: Emilia Wickstead

With London Fashion Week just underway, I must say I was most delighted to see the latest collection of one of my favorite British designers, Emilia WicksteadAlways polished and posh, the designer’s pieces this season also oozed with modern edge through the infusion of clean lines, deep necklines, and perfect peplums. The collection was perfectly elegant yet youthful.

With Wickstead known to frequently dress British high-society, we truly hope we see Kate Middleton pick-up some of these pieces from the runway!

Runway Retrospective

Hey lovelies! I hope you all had a fabulous summer, as for me I'm dreaming of end-of-summer vacations and last-minute getaways. What would I wear on said dream vacation? Why, this latest collection by Diane von Furstenburg of course! And it's no wonder, the collection was inspired by exotic destinations like Rome, Marrakesh, and Jaipur. I'll gladly take a trip to any of those!

Fall Must-have: Brocade Pants

Photo Credit: J. Mendel Resort 2013 via c'est si bon

I've been eagerly awaiting brocade pants for fall. It's a micro-trend that I'd like to see more of! Let's talk designer options: Elizabeth and James pants and J. Crew pants. The pair of brocade pants from Elizabeth and James offer a dark, dramatic take on the look. I'm totally obsessed with the J. Crew pants - just substitute these brocade Capris for jeans, and  you'll be all set!

Look for Less: Chevron Duvet Cover

Photo: HOME RUN! We loved spotting a West Elm Chevron Duvet in this bedroom designed by Gary Riggs Home.

more on our blog: http://bit.ly/LayeredBed

Hello Sophisticates! It's Marche' from #eyecandy here with another Look for Less column! I have always loved a layered look on my bed. I have recently been searching for a duvet cover for a second down comforter that I have. Not only will it make the room look more put together, it will offer extra comfort in the cooler months to come. This bedroom, designed by Gary Riggs Home, is so chic. The chevron duvet cover is the perfect neutral pattern and brings the whole room together.

For the exact duvet cover pictured above, look no further than West Elm. Their Organic Chevron Duvet Cover (below) is almost a cross between chevron and ikat, two trends that are still so big right now. From $89-$109, this West Elm stunner is also a great value. Urban Outfitters' Magical Thinking Linear Chevron Duvet Cover is another neutral chevron cover for half the price! Their Herringbone Duvet Cover and ZigZag Duvet Cover are also great options.

Now that it's Fall, it's time to layer up so start with your bed and purchase one of these gorgeous duvet covers. Happy shopping!

Spotlight on: Eugenia Kim

Fall fashion is in full swing, so let's talk about stylish toppers for fall/winter 2012.

My favorite milliner, at the moment, has to be Eugenia Kim - her designs have been worn by celebrities, including Sarah Jessica Parker. It's easy to see why - the hats are high quality, luxe and ultra fashionable.

The stunning fedora pictured above is $310, to give you an idea as to price. Gorgeous felt hat with a feather! It's at the top of my wish list!

If you're on a tight budget, don't despair! Eugenia Kim has a lower-price line, genie by EUGENIA KIM, that offers designer hats at an affordable price point. This sweater pom-pom beanie is adorable and perfect to keep you warm this winter at UNDER $30

YS Look of the Week

Keira Knightley looks positively stunning in gown from the Chanel Fall 2012 Couture collection at the London premiere of Anna Karenina.

This dress is elegant and soft (pale pink color, floral appliqué, and sheer sleeves), but the fact that it's styled with the metallic belt makes it feel really fresh and relevant. More fashion, less pretty-pretty look. What do you think?

Star Styling: Olivia Palermo

Hi there Sophisticates, Crissie here, from Chicasaurus-Rex with the latest installment of Star Styling, today I'm featuring the impecable Olivia P
alermo

Olivia has a habit of always looking amazing. It actually gets annoying after a while, her non-stop chic-ness just plain makes the rest of us look bad. Here she is at a US Open event in her tennis whites. The look is youthful and fresh - but very fitting for the occasion. She pairs the all white look with bright red flats which is just too adorable for words. No wonder she's grinning.

Here's how to get the look for yourself: Top from Buckle, skirt by BB Dakota, necklace from ModCloth, flats by Nine West
